Carbon Code

The code behind Biome BGC is being prepared for open release through a source control system.

Our aim is to make the model itself available so that researchers can inspect it, run it, and extend it. The release will cover the simulation core that handles energy, carbon, water, and nitrogen cycling, together with the input handling that reads daily meteorological data and general stand information.

What the release will include

  • The simulation core of Biome BGC and its process modules.
  • The multi vegetation extensions used for mixed stands and succession.
  • Input and output utilities for the daily, monthly, and yearly time steps.
  • Documentation to reproduce the studies shown under model outputs.

The science that the code implements is described under Biome BGC and ecosystem process models. Until the repository is public, please contact the team with questions about the code or to request access for research.
