University of Wisconsin Madison crest Carbon Model modeling carbon budgets in large terrestrial ecosystems

Our Team

We are a research project of the Forest Ecology and Ecosystems Lab at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

The lab sits within the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology. Together we build and apply ecosystem process models and industrial life cycle assessments to understand how forests and forest products move carbon through the Earth system.

Research scientists

  • Tom Gower, Principal Investigator and team leader
  • Scott Peckham
  • Dr. Michael McClennen
  • Puneet Kishor

Affiliated scientists

  • Sam Batzli
  • Linda Parker, Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest

Students

  • Natalie Hunt, Ph.D. program, Environment and Resources

The work of the team is documented on the ecosystem process models, model outputs, and publications pages, and reported from the field in the Carbon Blog.
